Promise and their designs are mostly floral bras and nature inspired lingerie, with a heavy emphasis on colourful and bright designs. We get a lot of new and interesting lingerie brands here at UK Tights, and it each time this happens we like to talk a little about how unique they are. They are all unique and interesting, of course, or we wouldn't welcome them into our range. But occasionally, a true maverick comes along. It is rare and each time we are more excited than the last, but we can confidently say that this new addition is one of the most fascinated we've ever had.
Promise is a lingerie brand that does something truly amazing. It actually does many things well, but one thing in particular is it is able to take a conventional design or motif like floral and make something new and creative from it that's never before been seen in lingerie. What is that? A floral that has not been seen before in the world of underwear? It seems crazy to think that there are any new and really inventive ways to do the lacy flower, leaf and vine combo that lingerie has all over. But as the great German designer Dieter Rams once said, "there is no end to creativity" and we think that is absolutely true. But you need a talented designer and Promise is exactly that. Their first range here at UK Tights took a different approach to florals, with plain fabrics being used instead of lacy stitching which is the convention. They then dyed the fabric and printed onto it, rather than making raised and knitted motifs. This meant that the finished item has like a tapestry or painting rather than a woolly jumper. This is common in clothing, with most printed garments like sun dresses being made in this way.
The level of detail that Promise gets out of their items is astounding and it made their floral range one of the most detailed in the industry. But this is only one collection and a broad description of this year's range is not emblematic of their brand. Promise will offer something new and different next season and it won't be restricted to just florals or just prints. But their first range with us did let us get a glimpse into what they are all about, and they are all about creativity. Promise lingerie is the lingerie you want for pushing the boundaries of what underwear can be and how beautiful it can look. Each new range that has come to use since their first has reinvented something or renewed an old favourite for the modern audience that was once thought lost. This is the eternal inspiration and endless creativity that fashion is supposed to be all about, but often is not.
